Apartment entrance doors are used in rental homes and more family homes as internal entrance doors. They are also known as apartment doors or apartment closing doors and separate the common corridor from the privacy of your living space. As they are used as kind of second entrance door between the apartment and the corridor, internal entrance doors should be equipped with several additional functions compared to normal internal doors.

features you should keep in mind and why those are so important.
The correct insulation of the entrance door
avoids deformation of the internal entrance door caused by high differences of
temperature and humidity. This is especially important as the living space can
be right behind the staircase or the corridors. As those two areas are normally
not heated, the temperature and humidity difference in comparison to the living
spaces is rather high and therefore the door leaf of the entrance door can be
deformed. Internal entrance doors that are equipped with a high climate rate
can prevent against deformations.
In the door leaf an aluminum layer is
included, that helps to avoid that the door is deformed by high humidity and
temperature differences up to 20 degrees. For internal entrance doors that are
connected to unheated facilities like corridors it is important that the door
has a high climate class (3). Hörmann equips apartment entrance doors with
climate class 3 as a standard.

2. Sound insulation allows undisturbed
silence in living spaces.
It depends if the entrance door connects
the common corridor to the apartment corridor or directly to the living space
of the apartment. In these cases, different sound insulation classes are
recommended. If the entrance door connects living space and corridor directly,
the noise protection class should of course have a higher sound insulating
effect as with noise insulation class 3 to avoid sounds from outside.
If there is an apartment corridor
in-between a lower noise protection class like class 2 is enough. Both classes
are equipped with a bottom seal that lowers automatically when the door is
closing. This provides additional noise protection and avoids that cold air
from the corridor gets into the living space of the apartment.

corridor between in the apartment, one class lower is sufficient.
3. RC 2 security equipment - for a safe
feeling
As the apartment door is like a second
entrance door, security against burglars is recommended. To provide high
security feeling they should be equipped with RC 2 resistant class as an
option. This is resistant against burglaries with simple tools like a
screwdriver, pliers or a wedge for at least three minutes.
Doors that are equipped with RC 2 have a
thicker door leaf, burglary resistant hinges, locks and proven security
fittings. Apart from terrace doors, apartment entrance doors are the most
endangered doors for burglaries according to the "security at home"
police research report. Therefore the correct security equipment is especially important.

4. Additional equipment and designs - You
can use them to make your entrance door more special
Spy-holes, automated locks and especially
resistant surfaces make your door more appealing. Especially for multi-family
houses spy-holes make sense, as you can have a look who is outside first,
without opening the door.
To lock the door automatically when it
closes a convenient motorized lock can be used in addition. An unlocked
entrance door which would lead to the case that the insurance would not pay in
case of a burglary will be past then. Additionally a motorized lock gives the
door the opportunity to equip it with an drive to make it even more convenient
and barrier-free when operating with a remote control or a wall switch.

more than once a day it is important that it is resistant and therefore the
